We’ve ordered the interior materials for the seats, floor and walls of in N9421D.  The picture above represents the colors and materials that were chosen for this upgrade. One difference is that we’ve chosen to go with vinyl flooring in the foot-traffic areas of the floor. The baggage compartment will still be carpeted.

There is a 10-week lead time for the materials from Airtex Products. We are planning to perform the bulk of this installation during the annual inspection sometime in late March.

We chose to change the interior color from tan to gray in order to match the predominant exterior stripe color. While the flooring, seats and wall panels will be new from Airtex, most of the plastic trim pieces will remain. We’ve decided to start on this refurb process by pulling some of the plastic pieces from the airplane before the materials arrive from Airtex, and getting them repaired and painted to match the new interior color scheme.

So…if you fly N9421D in the near future and you notice some of the plastic trim pieces missing, please “pardon our dust” while she is being revamped. I think the slight inconvenience will be worth it in the end!
